A friend of mine (Jean-Michel) sent me this link. I found it very funny so I am writing this post about it, I am sure you will find it interesting too. Although the page is in German, you don't need to understand what is written, just look at the images, it's always easier :D
So the pages is entitled "advertisement against reality". You can see 100 products of all sorts, and compare the advertisement photos or the images on the packages when you buy the product, with how the product really looks like. I'm telling you, the comparison is astonishing. I realized that what I buy is not what I use, eat or wear, but what is represented in the beautiful and bright images that we are bombarded with though advertisements. This is how marketing manipulates us.

The meaning of life
A very funny prank. Unfortunately it is in German, so I will try to translate the joke. This is an imitation of a search engine, where the entered search string is: "the meaning of life". So click here to access the page.
Underneath it you have got two buttons, the first one is labelled "advertisement", the second one "reality". If you click on "advertisement" you get normal search results from google. But is you click on "reality", you get a ... very interesting result: the one-sentence answer to the question: What is the meaning of life?
The answer is very funny. For the lucky German-speakers, hope you'll like it. For those of you who don't understand German, I will write the translated answer as a comment :D

Check your nerdiness!
On Dr. gernot Starke's blog (IT & more), I discovered a link to a page evaluating one's own nerdiness score. I decided I had no problem with that and that I would be very curious to know what my score would be. I do not think being nerdy is a bad thing, I even appreciate working with nerds. I have to say because of my background I have been in contact with many of them, but a lot less now that I have started my professional career. Nerds are actually very funny people, and most of them have very specific views on the world and on people. It is always very interesting to talk to nerds, but you certainly have got to come from the same background as them, at least to understand what they are saying and be able to discuss with them.
I will say nothing about the questions you'll get, so you'll be able to be surprised. But the questions are really asked by a nerd, although these questions are really primary class level for a real nerd, i.e. they are extremely easy and quick to answer if you have at least been a nerd or lived and spent much time around nerds :D
One thing before I tell the results, I have been trying for years to quit my short but intensive nerdy times and I really answered intuitively, as quick as possibel and most of all, honestly (means that I answered what I think and not what I know a nerd would answer). So I took the test and....my score is...:
______________________________________________
High-Level Nerd. You are definitely MIT material, apply now!!!.
______________________________________________
Lol, isn't that funny....euuh...I guess only a nerd would find this funny...ok, ok, it's not funny :D
Oh and now my score is from now on to be seen for ever on my blog, look for it!

PS: If you are really a nerd, then this website is for you: plenty of nerd tests.

Overall, you scored as follows:
16% scored higher (more nerdy),
1% scored the same, and
83% scored lower (less nerdy).
High-Level Nerd. You are definitely MIT material, apply now!!!.

Ode to Facebook
This is an absolutely great way of (ironically) singing about new virtual social worlds. On the program today: Facebook (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b-fJxzpK7s)!

Here comes another bubble
Even if the maker of the video predicted (again) the bubble around the bubble being explained in the video, I can't help but react like the masses and blog about it!
This is a very funny video explaining the mechanism of Technology Bubbles which are to the IT world as cancer is to a human body (The comparison may not be the most subtile but I stand to it), they are impredictable, come quick and hard, one fights against them long before their effects ecome visble on stock exchange numbers but they eventually win most of the time (well for now I only knew about one and it was disastrous).
Enjoy this very funny video!

Bling Bling President
Today I want to tell about a phenomenum happening on the other side of the Rhine, because our beloved french neighbours have a new title for their president: Bling Bling president. The allusion is made to the jewelry usually worn by Hip-Hop stars and wannabe-stars :D
All opposition sand independant journals and media agree on using this term, which has somehow imposed itself in France. Liberation delivers in this article a very good analysis of the aspects of the president that are worth calling bling bling. Sarkozy travels de luxe, has douled his salary, has vacations on a luxus yacht while he just became president and should rather take care of a nation in crisis, sarkozy loves luxus jewelry, high-class dinners, loves to have hot ex-model singers as girl-friends (carla Bruni) and is ready to take on any fishe who insults him in a real man's fight. This completely cuts with the normal classy behavious of french diplomacy representatives. Think of Jacques Chirac, Valerie Giscard D'estaing or Mitterand.
Our british neighbours didn't miss the bizarre behavior of sarkozy and so do the americans. Of course are the germans not on the bank. As a conclusion this funny video gathers the caricatures made about the new bling bling habitudes sarkozy. I really hope the french will get conscious about what is really good for them and carefully choose their political leaders.
